Data controller
The data controller is Alessandro Paolini, responsible for the editorial project Smokopolitan. For requests relating to privacy you can write to info@smokopolitan.com.
What data we collect
While browsing, technical data necessary for the functioning and security of the site may be processed, such as IP address, browser type, date and time of the request and pages consulted.
When you use the Contact form we collect your name, email address, message topic and content. For Smokopolitan Notes we collect your email address and proof of consent.
The browser stores the confirmation of age of majority and the preference relating to Google Analytics locally. This information remains on your device and can be deleted from your browser settings.
Purpose and legal bases
- manage the site, guarantee its security and prevent abuse, based on the legitimate interest of the owner;
- respond to requests and proposals sent via the Contact form;
- send Smokopolitan Notes exclusively on the basis of consent, which can be revoked at any time;
- update the Radar and the proprietary Instagram feed via server-side functions, cache and technical archive on Netlify;
- measure the use of the site in aggregate form via Google Analytics 4 only after the user's consent;
Suppliers and recipients
The site is hosted by Netlify, which can process technical navigation data, information sent via forms and data necessary for server-side functions. The Radar uses public RSS feeds retrieved from the server and stored via Netlify Blobs. The proprietary Instagram feed retrieves a JSON feed provided by Behold on the server side; metadata and images are stored via Netlify Blobs and served, when available, from the Smokopolitan cache. The service is contacted by the update system, not directly by the visitor's browser. Google Analytics 4 is powered by Google and is used exclusively after consent.
Data is not sold. They may be communicated to technical suppliers to the extent necessary for the provision of services or when required by law.
Retention times
Messages are kept for the time necessary to manage the request and any subsequent reports. The address used for Smokopolitan Notes remains in the list until you revoke your consent or request cancellation. The technical data are stored according to the times applied by the service providers.
Google Analytics 4
The site uses Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-RC718V28TX to understand, in aggregate form, which pages are viewed and how the site is used.
Google tag is not loaded before consent. If you choose “Only necessary”, no data is sent to Google Analytics. You can change your choice at any time via “Privacy Preferences” in the footer.
Feed Instagram Proprietary and Radar
Radar and feed Instagram are updated server-side and served via the Smokopolitan domain. They do not require advertising cookies or the loading of external widgets in the browser. By clicking on a Radar source or content Instagram you leave the site and the information of the external service visited applies.
Smokopolitan Radar
The Radar presents titles, short summaries, date, category and source of news published by external sites, with a link to the original article. Smokopolitan does not republish source articles in full.
Your rights
You can request access, rectification, cancellation, limitation, portability or opposition to processing and you can withdraw consent to the newsletter and Google Analytics. You can also lodge a complaint with the Guarantor for the protection of personal data.
Adult audience
Smokopolitan is aimed exclusively at adults. The entry screen serves to declare the age of majority, but does not constitute an identity verification system.

This information may be updated when services, tools or processing methods change. The date of the last modification is indicated at the beginning.
